Hack/Scam Protection Guide

Why Are Passwords Required?
Passwords are required to prevent anyone else from accessing your account. It is also necessary to secure your e-Games account. Without passwords, anyone with a malicious intent can access your account and do some bad things with it like taking your identity and creating mischief online.
Why should you  avoid easy-to-remember passwords?
We strongly suggest that you create passwords that no one else should be able to guess. Easy to remember passwords can easily be figured by smart hackers. If you are creating one, use a combination of letters, numbers and characters. Use case sensitive letters and never use a single word that is in the dictionary. For security reasons, passwords should be minimum 6-8 characters.
How do you  keep my Passwords Safe
Never give out your passwords to anyone including representatives from e-games that call you. E-games representatives will never call you or ask for your password.
Never create a list of passwords on your desk or in file in your PC or computer. If you must create a list, never display it openly or if you store in your PC, get a shareware program that will store your passwords for you. These shareware programs use encryption technology that will help protect your password list file.
If you think someone knows your password, change it immediately.
Change your passwords periodically. Change it monthly if you can.
How Do you  keep your  account from being hacked
1. Never give out your accounts to anyone including e-games representatives. E-Games will never call you or e-mail you to get your accounts. You can verify these requests at the e-Games Helpdesk.
2. Do not believe in anyone who says that they can create a cheat for your e-games characters. There are no legal cheats in e-Games titles so don’t fall for it. What these scammers do is they promise to give players in-game cheats (such as weapons, money or skill or stats reset) if they give them their player accounts, username and passwords, and e-points. Once they have gathered enough, they will disappear together with your accounts and epoint loads. Never fall for these scams.
We have provided you with URLs of E-Games Titles and Properties. If E-Games or any of its titles or properties have online promotions, it’ll be listed on these sites so check them out regularly.
3. A valid e-mail is also required to register for an e-games Account. To get an e-mail account, go to Yahoo (www.yahoo.com), Google Mail (gmail.com), or Hotmail (www.hotmail.com). These e-mail services are free so you don’t have to pay a fee.
Use a separate email address if you plan to do trades or to get in touch with other players. This way, it’ll protect the email that you used or registered for e-Games, and hackers will not be able to access important information we send to your registered email. Also with regards to Email, use a separate Email address for registering for the forums and boards.
4. Use Plug-ins only from trusted sites. There are plug-ins that may contain code to hack accounts. If you think a plug-in is suspicious, google the plug in name. If it’s legal, then you can use it. If not, don’t download it. One of the more recent creations of the Internet are tiny programs that install themselves without your permission. These are cookies, malware or data ware. Although cookies can save you time to log in to your favorite web sites, it can also be used to track the websites you go to and dump unwanted adware and annoying pop up Ads on your PC. It’s really your choice.
If you want to remove these programs, use Adware removal programs. Go to download.com and check the latest malware removal programs.
Another way to prevent people from getting information on you is to delete your cookies on a regular basis. You can do this by going to the top of your Web Browser screen.
Tools-> Internet options-> Delete cookies, Double click “Delete offline content”-> Delete files.
To delete information you may have filled out while applying to a website you can go to Tools-> Internet options-> Content-> Auto complete-> Clear forms-clear passwords.
Make sure that if you have any passwords you need to remember you write them down. There are some programs that will do this for you as well.
5. Scan your PC for viruses. Getting an anti-virus program is crucial so we suggest that you use Norton or Trend Micro Anti-Virus programs. These cost money but they are very effective as they will save time, effort and money from disastrous computer virus infections. They can also give you timely updates on new viruses.
6. Make regular Web Browser and OS (operating system) updates. Windows, unfortunately, is not secure and have security holes. They release patches to fix these problems and you should update as well. You can download windows updates at the Windows Update site.
7. Firewalls help prevent hacking as well. These block unwanted Internet traffic and hackers from accessing your computer. Most virus scanners have built-in firewalls but are not as effective as standalone firewall programs so buy one if you can. Today’s routers have built-in firewalls but you can also get free or shareware firewalls from the Web.
8. Secure your place when playing in an Internet Cafe. When you go to an Internet Cafe or a network gaming center to play, you can secure your e-games account by following few simple instructions. First, you should clear your browser cache (called Temporary Internet Files in IE) and browser history when you finish playing;
Keyloggers are invisible computer programs that track the keys that you type and your online activity. Unfortunately, there are no real-time online scanners for key loggers. Your best bet is to do the following:
  • Access on-screen keyboard of Windows. Click on Start then Programs, then Accessories and left click on On Screen Keyboard
  • Copy and paste files or a web site to prevent inputting critical information.
  • Use Password Encryption programs like Cypherix (www.cypherix.co.uk)
There are also eye loggers. These are not programs but people who take note of the keys that you punch on the keyboard. These eye loggers either stand at your back or at your side and they would look at your PC’s keyboard while you enter your account and password. The only way to stop these people is to make sure no one sees you entering your password and pin codes. Check the people playing with you. If you’ve got friends, make sure they are sitting beside you or at your back. If you’re playing alone, make sure no else is looking at your keyboard when you enter your password. You can also prevent eyelogging by covering the hand typing on the keyboard. Typing one-handed may seem hard but it will likely deter these eye loggers.
9. Secure your top up cards. If you are buying your top up cards from an Interne cafe, make sure that while you scratch off the protective film area (gray color),  no one else is looking at it. You must also keep your top up card in case a problem arises with your account. Make sure you keep at least 5 top up cards as they will be needed for verification purposes when you call our Help Desk line.
10. Securing your pin code is essential. Without it, you will not be able to use your purchased Epoint card load. To secure it, please keep your pin codes safe. You can get your pin codes by going the e-games log in section, click on Find Pin code. It will then ask you to reenter your account name and password and type down the code number on the blue box. Once you have successfully entered the required data, the pin code will be sent to your registered e-mail address. Keep this info private either by writing down and placing it in a secure place.
